On a Boat!

Got a cruise for christmas. Went with the family and the tim. It was pretty cool, it was like being in a big floating hotel all evening and through the night. In the mornings we were docked at an island. We started at San juan. We went to St. Lucia first, where we took a sail with some pirates! We stormed "pigeon island" with 10-year olds shooting off our fake cannons lol. Then we got to get off and explore the island, which was filled with like revolutionary times ruins of watch towers and the like. We climed a big hill where there used to be some kind of an outpost and caitlin and corey got into the dungeon.

Hmm, next we docked at Barbados, i believe, where we sailed on a catamaran all day, and went snorling and saw turtles! The crew guys attracted them with bread, and they came so close! We aren't supposed to pet them, but it was so close i couldn't help it lol. I petted a sea turtle! yay lol Then we went to this beach, and we rode back just before it rained. It rained on us like everyday lol, just a little bit :)

Then we went to Antigua. Which is pronounced An-Tee-Guh. wierd. The people we were supposed to go on an excursion with were late, so we asked someone, and they indicated a dock a little ways down the pier. they said "there's the boat, they'll be here soon." On that dock was a big yacht like cruiser, and what we like to call a bannana boat. I don't know if you've ever seen the coat guard boats that are just like two sausage shaped baloons with a floor between them and two motors on the back. Thats what this was. Mom and john were all like "we'll be snorkling off that one," pointing to the big ship, but as i was secretly hoping, we were in the little one!! It was so fast! We speeded like halfway around the island before we got to the snorkling spot. We even saw a nude beach from a distance lol, unfortunaltley, there was no one on it lol. So we snorkled near a reef, which was cool, and then we went on to this beach and got off and collected shells and swam, and the like 15 other people we were with wanted to get going when some clouds started to gather. So we speeded back to port in the rain. It was amusing becasue some of the adults were hiding in garbage bags from the rain that was stinging us as we sped through it. One lady lost hers. Served her right, it was flapping in my face lol. We made it back alive :) I had fun lol.

Then we went to St. Maarten, and mom and john were kinda sick and didn't want to go anywhere. Corey had sun burn and homework to get done, so he didn't want to come either. Me, Caitlin, and Tim took a water taxi (which is a small loud boat) to the nearest beach, where we sat around for like three hours. There were plenty of shells, and we didn't have to go far out to swim. It dropped off like three feet off shore, and was right up ovre our heads lol, i guess the tide was out. It started comeing in while we were there and we had to get out of the water to move the stuff up the beach more before a wave got to our towels lol. Caitlin had to find a bathroom, so we went to the little open air resteraunt up the beach a bit, and as i was waiting for her, a lizard ran out from under the porch! I chased it around some of the little shade huts over some picnic tables, under another porch. That was my encunter with the carribbean wild life lol.

We spent the last day on St. Thomas. Mom and John have been there before and they wanted to go to this beach called Megan's Bay. So we went. It was pretty, but it looked like it had been trampled on by too many people. It might have been really beautiful before the people got to it. But there were kyacks and tubes all over the shore, and rich people's boats parked in it's waters. shame really. All the same, the swimming was good. We swimmed and while we were laying on the towels, some puppies ran by. That made my day lol.

Some of us who are not outdoor people (i.e. tim) would tell you that the boat was the most awesome part. Well, realy i was the only one that like the islands better than the boat lol. It was like a really expensive hotel. There was a theatre at which we caught two movies, a magic show, and pieces of a few other vegas-type stage shows and comedians. There were several louges that always had someone playing in them, or some kind of bingo game. We watched some plywood ponies race, but we couldn't bet on them, not being 21 and all. Speaking of that, we couldn't drink on the boat, but in the carribbean, the drinking age is almost non existent. I learned this when i got some punch on the pirate ship (they were serving it like at the helm from a cooler) and it was real rum punch! not very good, becasue alcohol has this sharp taste that i figure must need to be aquired, but all the same, i was pretty surprised that it was real lol, i saw some lady put some in a baby bottle, which was wierd, and thats why i thought it was just normal punch. oh well lol. where was i. right. the boat. there were two big pools. i didn't like the covered one becasue it always smelled like cholrene in there, but i swam in the opther one whenever i got a chance. There were numerous cuzzis all over the place, but we only figured out how to make them bubble like the second to last day, and no one wanted to check it out with me lol. So on the last night, on our way back to San Juan where the airport is, i set out to do a jacuzzi thing, and there was like no one on deck anywhere lol. In the small "adult only" pool, which has one of those current making devices, and two cuzzis around it, there were like a ton of waves. I didn't realize the boat had been rocking so much! Most of the water was splshed out of the pool, so it was like 2 feet deep, but i swam in it anyway, becasue there were so many cool waves lol, i got tossed around a lot. So in conclusion, never checked out the bubbly jacuzzies, but thats ok lol. On board, most of the food is paid far already so tim had like 3 pices of pizza a day. It was good pizza lol. Also, there was a 24-hour buffet that was included, so we went there for lunch, and late at ngiht, when we were turning in to watch a movie and sleep, we got a plate full of chocolate chip cookies and desserts :) For dinner every night though, we ate in the fancy dining room, where our waitress for the week, Tenielle, served us this crazy rich gormet food lol. It was cool. On the last night, we had baked alaska for dessert, and all the waitresses paraded in with these plates of ice cream covered in meraigne (which i know i spelled wrong) and a little fire burning on top of it, it was fantastic lol, the perfect tribute to the awesome menu of the week lol.
